Dr John Guy, OBE, is a Senior Education Advisor, Examinations at the Cambridge University and is also Governor of the Oxford Brookes University. His wife, Dr Maggie Guy is a senior doctor at the Farnham hospital. They had recently trekked along the Annapurna region of Nepal and had also visited Sundar Bazar. They said they were spellbound with the beauty of Sundar Bazar and friendliness of the local people. They have promised to continue their support in the future as well.
At a function organised by the 'Sundar Bazar Serofero,' a community group, at the Real Gurkha Restaurant at Farnborough last Sunday, Dr John Guy and Mrs Guy handed over the cheque to the organisation.
At the start of the function, Lok Raj Gurung welcomed Dr Guy and Mrs Guy with a bouquet and 'khada.' A cultural programme was also organised on the occasion followed by Nepali dinner.
The meeting also formed the 'Sundar Bazar development governing board UK chapter' with a view to help develop Sundar Bazar area in Nepal. Retired LT Bishnu Gurung is the chairperson of the committee while Mohan KC has been designated as Secretary. Similarly, Indra Jit Gurung has been nominated as Additional Secretary and Nabin Gurung as Treasurer. WOII Dhan Bahadur Gurung, Udai Gurung, Lok Raj Gurung, Ganesh BK and Mrs Durga Gurung have been nominated as Co-coordinators. Similarly, Retd. Major Krishna Gurung, Bidhan Gurung, Prem Bahadur Gurung, Mrs Lila Gurung, Kerjang Gurung, Rajuram Gurung and Bashu Mishra have been nominated as members of the committee.
Chairman of the newly formed committee, Retd LT Bishnu Gurung, thanked all for their active cooperation in the function and urged them all for their continued cooperation in the future.
