Best things we ate bought and watched october Ousia wellness juice smoothie bar Central

OUSIA — Central’s newest health & wellness bar that nourishes from the inside out

If there’s one thing you can always trust, it’s our Managing Director, Haley’s recommendation! A juice and wellness smoothie connoisseur, her latest find, OUSIA, doesn’t disappoint. Besides its refreshing and calming interiors (hint, extremely instagrammable aesthetic!), Haley is partial to the bar’s intentional drink curation, with each smoothie intended to target a particular issue or health goal. We’re extremely excited by the Tri-biotic smoothie, a nutritional and delicious way to fuel your gut with the power of probiotics, prebiotics and postbiotics!

Sassy Tip: OUSIA is pet-friendly and allows your furry friend to sit inside with you!

Best things we ate bought and watched october Taste of Wonders A delicious and authentic buffet at the Marriott Bonvoy

Taste of Wonders — A delicious and authentic buffet at the Marriott Bonvoy

Admittedly, at Sassy, we’ve had our fair share of buffets and tastings — but when Editorial Coordinator Veena says The Taste of Wonders buffet blew her away, you know it’s something special. One standout? The Dai Pai Dong Stinky Tofu with Curried Crab Claw — a creative fusion inspired by Mumbai’s dahl and curries that turned out surprisingly authentic and delicious. But the real showstopper and the dish she’d return for in a heartbeat was the Typhoon Shelter Lobster Shellfish Risotto. “It was incredible — it had a little heat to it, the garlic was plentiful and delicious, and it all balanced really well, I could’ve had two plates of it,” she raves. With most of these dishes featured across several Marriott hotels in Hong Kong, we’ll definitely be right there with Veena, elbowing our way to that lobster risotto.

Taste of Wonders, participating Marriott Hotels across Hong Kong, including Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel, Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel, Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers, Courtyard by Marriott Hong Kong and more.

Best things we ate bought and watched october Venner Kladdkaka Chocolate Slice

Venner — Small batch Nordic bakes, coffee & wines

Venner isn’t only beloved by the community, but also Sassy’s Marketing guru, Megan! With clean and stylish Nordic breakfast plates for the morning and natural wines for after dark, Venner has something for every moment of your day. In particular, Megan loves the Kladdkaka Chocolate Slice — the perfect afternoon sweet treat for a muggy Hong Kong day! She describes it as if a “brownie and chocolate soufflé had a baby,” which is reason enough to wander over to the quaint neighbourhood spot.

Sassy Tip: Venner doesn’t allow laptops on weekends — so be ready to connect with the community instead!

Best things we ate bought and watched october Mendel's bagels Kennedy town

Mendel’s — (Potentially) strong competitors for HK’s best bagels

Bagels might not seem like a hot topic, but trust us — they’re a big deal in the Sassy office. Megan recommends Mendel’s in Kennedy Town, calling it a strong contender for Hong Kong’s best bagel spot (though the deciding ranking will be decided by New Yorker, Haley). We love the generous portions and fair prices, which make a great alternative to weekend brunch. Megan’s favourite is the house-smoked salmon bagel with scallion cream cheese and dill pickles ($108), which she loves for how “fresh and zesty!” it is. Plus, while you’re there, be sure to order a smoothie for a delicious pairing!

Best things we ate bought and watched october Butter Confetti Cake Slices

Butter — American cakes, cookies and pies to satisfy your sweet cravings

Attention all dessert lovers — Butter has brought back its iconic Confetti Cake slices, and we’ve been drooling ever since. Haley swears by this colourful classic for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up and is manifesting that it stays on the menu for good. (Butter, if you’re reading this — our collective sanity depends on this decision).

Best things we ate bought and watched october Kobayashi Japanese Eyewash

KOBAYASHI — Japanese eyewash solutions ideal for makeup and contact lens users

An unsexy product that keeps you looking sexy, Jess recommends this Japanese eyewash — an absolute must for makeup lovers and contact lens wearers. It’s the step most of us skip (because honestly, who remembers to wash their eyes?), but this little wonder clears out every bit of gunk and leaves your eyes feeling fresh, bright and revived, even after a long day.

Best things we ate bought and watched october Victoria's Secret Vanilla Body Mist

Victoria’s Secret — Perfumes and body mists

They say everything we love eventually makes a comeback — and Anna’s October fave proves it! Whilst perusing the aisles of Lung Fung Mall, she rediscovered her middle school staple: the Victoria’s Secret Bare Vanilla Body Mist (for under $100, no less!). Perfect on its own or layered under your favourite perfume, Anna loves pairing it with muskier scents for a warm, customised scent.

Best things we ate bought and watched october Red Chamber Cream Blush Chinese Vegan Makeup

RED CHAMBER — Trending Chinese Cream Blush

As a self-proclaimed blush addict, Jess has tried them all — but Red Chamber’s Multipurpose Cream truly stands out. Unlike most cream blushes that melt in Hong Kong’s humidity (a common gripe among the cream blush enthusiasts!), this one stays put, offering rich pigment and a smooth, blendable finish that lasts. Plus, its vegan formula, affordable price tag and diverse range of products mean this will be a brand she returns to again and again.

Best things we ate bought and watched october Red Chamber Cream Victoria Secret Push Up bra TWICE

Victoria’s Secret PINK — Comfortable lingerie with ample push-up and none of the pain

Perhaps this is marking the sign of Victoria’s Secret’s comeback, but another fave of our editor’s this month is the Victoria’s Secret push-up bra. “I saw TWICE wearing the bras when they performed at the show this year, and they looked so good, I just had to invest!” Jess divulges. She can confirm the design and push-up effect is second to none, plus the bras are made of quality materials that promise comfort all day long.

Sassy Tip: While there’s no physical store in Hong Kong, the Victoria’s Secret in Macau’s Venetian is the perfect excuse for a day-trip!
