Looking for spices, chargrilled meats and mezze? We’ve rounded up the best Middle Eastern restaurants in Hong Kong for wraps & dips galore!

We like to think of ourselves as the culinary capital of Asia (read: a foodie’s heaven!), so it’s no surprise the amount of incredible Arab eateries we have constantly popping up around Hong Kong. Their culinary traditions cover everything from Lebanese to Moroccan, Turkish and more, so we’ve done the legwork and rounded up the very best Middle Eastern and North African restaurants to try in the city.

main dish at francis wan chai the best middle eastern restaurant in hong kong, francis peel street central

Francis – Wan Chai’s best Middle Eastern restaurant? We’d say so!

Not only is Francis beloved by the neighbourhood, but it’s also the favourite of our Managing Director. The true highlight of this Middle Eastern restaurant is the mezze, whereas the big plates can be either a hit or miss. Expect the halloumi – baked in a pomegranate molasses – to melt in your mouth, and for the Lamb Ribs to fall right off the bone (make sure you dip it into yoghurt, even if that’s not what you’d usually do). You also can’t go wrong with Francis’ burnt eggplant, and we’re convinced its hummus is the best (and most authentic) in Hong Kong!

Opening hours: 12pm to 10pm, daily

Francis, G/F, 4-6 St Francis Street, Wan Chai, Hong Kong
Francis, 42 & 44 Peel Street, Central, Hong Kong, www.francis.com.hk

While the Eggplant casserole is a vegetarian dish, our in-house carnivores can’t get enough of it either!

While it’s super easy to fill up on its wide variety of cold and hot mezze (how do you stop eating Truffle hummus?!) during an a la carte dinner, make sure you leave room for dishes from the Traditional Lebanese Charcoal Grill.

falafel wrap from chickpea in central, hong kong, middle eastern eatery in hk

Chickpea – Fresh hummus, pita pockets and more Middle Eastern bites in Central

Our Marketing Coordinator’s go-to when she’s craving an affordable bite in Central – Chickpea is a low-key gem that often gets overlooked by its counterparts in Hong Kong’s busiest district. The Falafel wrap is a delicious veggie option – crunchy on the outside and soft inside – but the real standout is the Beef brisket hummus bowl. It provides perfect lunchtime satisfaction – filling but not too heavy, plus the beef is so tender!

Opening hours: 11:30am to 9:45pm, Monday to Saturday; 11:30am to 5pm, Sunday

Chickpea, Shop 3, Union Commercial Building, Lyndhurst Terrace, Central, Hong Kong, 6056 0083, www.chickpea.hk
