Francis — Romantic mezze platters in Wan Chai and Central
Care to share? Francis, a Middle Eastern restaurant with two locations (in Wan Chai and on Peel Street!) is an ideal date night spot for a few reasons. The first is its low-light romantic atmosphere, but even more importantly, the food is warm, inviting and totally shareable — meaning you and your boo can order up to four courses while keeping the bill under $500. Just don’t skip the perfectly smooth Hummus ($128) or melt-in-your-mouth Baked Halloumi ($120)!

Le Colvert – French duck cuisine in Sai Ying Pun
One of the newest (and most inviting) additions to Sai Ying Pun’s dining scene is Le Colvert, an authentic French restaurant that specialises in using every part of the duck, from beak to tail. Chef Guillaume prides himself on embracing the rich heritage of French duck cuisine, and adding a modern, sustainable twist to classic dishes. Between the delicious and hearty portions, duck-themed artwork adorning the walls and the warm atmosphere that evokes the comfort of a grandmother’s kitchen, this is the perfect date night spot for an intimate evening!

Sen Ryo — Affordable sushi platters all across Hong Kong
Chances are you’ve been to Sen Ryo before and accidentally spent more than you planned to, but with a little forethought, this is a great affordable date night restaurant. Our advice? Head to a branch without a conveyer belt and that isn’t within a crowded mall like IFC (we love the Causeway Bay Fashion Walk location). That way, you can cosy up in a table for two and order one of the many sushi or sashimi platter options — such as the Deluxe Sushi Platter, which includes 20 pieces for $438!

Falcone — IFC’s energetic Neapolitan restaurant with crazy weekday deals
Did we just tell you to avoid IFC for date nights? Yes. Are we taking that right back to dish about Falcone? Also yes, but for good reason! Throughout the weekdays, from 3pm to 5:30pm, Falcone IFC has one of Hong Kong’s best dining deals: $98 pizzas (typically $258!),$58 cocktails and $238 bottles of wine. As a fairly new restaurant in Hong Kong, SIÜ SIÜ has been getting an impressive amount of attention. The hot new izakaya concept in Sheung Wan is especially praised for its prawn dishes, including the Drunken Prawn appetiser ($138), and Prawn Okonomiyaki ($128), which comes on toast. Just note that SIÜ SIÜ may not be the cheapest spot for a full sit-down meal — rather, with a closing time of 11pm, it’s perfect for an intimate bite after a few drinks.

Kinsman – Cantonese cocktails and snacks on Peel Street
Kinsman is longtime favourite as a neighbourhood bar, but have you ever tried its Canto-inspired food? The menu takes elevated snacks to a whole new level: the mala-spiced Typhoon Shelter Fries ($78) and Lap Cheong Platter ($128), a Chinese meat charcuterie, are divine to start, while the deep-fried Shrimp Toast and Mapo Tofu Sando (both $128) are perfectly filling. The Pizza Project may not be known for its authentic Neapolitan cuisine, but its price and vibe set it apart from other pizzerias. With individual pizzas starting at just $95 and its happy hour glasses of wine costing just $42, you’re bound to have a good night here.
